Sustainability, Resilience, and Environmental Justice

Sustainability, resilience, and environmental justice are at the heart of the Sustainability Ambassador Program.  Ambassadors champion sustainability, resilience, and environmental justice to ensure that communities—especially historically marginalized ones—benefit from equitable, long-term environmental and economic solutions. These pillars help address climate change, social disparities, and resource accessibility while building stronger, more adaptive communities.

Energy Efficiency | Green & Sustainable Buildings

Sustainability Ambassadors prioritize energy efficiency and green buildings because these strategies reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and improve public health. Sustainable buildings create long-term environmental, economic, and social benefits, making cities more resilient and equitable.

Circular Economy & Waste Reduction

Sustainability Ambassadors champion developing a local circular economy because we know that recovering and reusing materials transforms waste into valuable resources, reduces environmental impact, and fosters local economic opportunities.

Water & Green Infrastructure

Sustainability Ambassadors focus on water and green infrastructure to improve climate resilience, reduce pollution, and enhance community well-being

Urban Agriculture & Food Systems

Sustainability Ambassadors focus on local urban agriculture because it enhances food security, supports climate resilience, creates green jobs, and promotes community well-being.

Transportation & Climate Action

Sustainability Ambassadors emphasize Transportation & Climate Action because transportation is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, significantly impacting air quality, public health, and climate resilience. Equitable and sustainable mobility solutions reduce carbon footprints, improve community well-being, and ensure accessibility for all.

Policy & Advocacy

Policy and advocacy are essential for driving systemic change and ensuring long-term sustainability. Sustainability Ambassadors play a key role in shaping policies that promote environmental justice, climate resilience, and equitable access to resources. By engaging in advocacy, they help influence decision-making processes that impact communities, businesses, and the environment.
